American Centrifuge Plant

In late 2023, Centrus began uranium enrichment operations at the American Centrifuge Plant in Piketon, Ohio — the first U.S.-owned, U.S. technology enrichment plant to start production since 1954.  Under contract with the U.S. Department of Energy, Centrus is pioneering production of High-Assay, Low-Enriched Uranium (HALEU) in Piketon.  The facility, which has a footprint roughly the size of the U.S. Pentagon building, is located on the U.S. Department of Energy’s Portsmouth Gaseous Diffusion Plant reservation.
